I try to do marketing tasks for at least 30 minutes a day, most days of the week. It’s how I remind previous clients that I’m around and letting the algorithms on LinkedIn, X, Threads, Google, etc. know that I’m publishing.

If I only had one hour this week to focus on high-value marketing to build up my Q2 client roster, this is what I’d do:

Minutes 0–20: Determine which clients from the past three years were my favorites.

I’d review five clients, how much I earned working with them, and look up the contact to see if they’re still at the company.

Minutes: 21-40: I’d write an email draft.

I’d draft a template email “checking in” to see how the contact is doing, mention what I’ve been working on since we last connected, new skills or certifications that might be relevant to their business, and ask if we can set up a call.

Each email would also include something personal, about the contact or the business that I looked up — so it’s newsworthy and not a copy and paste: “Heyyy, do you have work for me?” email.

The research into their latest posts, company news and diving into what the contact is up to will take some time.

Minutes: 41-50: I’d try to engage with them on LinkedIn.

If they are on LinkedIn and have an active presence there, I might comment on something they recently posted, an achievement or promotion, and/or comment on a recent company page post.

Minutes 51-60: Then, I’d send each email.

I’ll make sure each email and subject line is addressed properly and the content from the template I created is appropriate for the client before sending out each email. I’ll also update my Notion CRM so I can follow up in a few weeks.
