The freelance job websites can look bleak at times.
Those LinkedIn freelance writer pitch calls can get crowded and competitive quickly.
And you’ve probably just heard about another media layoff or been impacted by one yourself recently.
(If that’s you, a friend, or loved one, I’m sorry.)
While the subject line is catchy, I’ll go on the record saying that I don’t think freelancing is the fastest way to earn cash especially if you need to buy food, gas, medicine, and rent/mortgage.
You’re probably better off offering to babysit, walk a dog, take on Uber driving or do some Task Rabbit tasks or seriously, offer to help neighbors with yard work or cleaning. For cold hard cash in hand super fast to live the next few weeks, it’s not my top rec.
That being said, you could try a few things if you wanted to earn $1,000 a month freelancing.
Here’s what I would do based on my freelance writing skills if I needed to earn freelance cash quickly.
→ I’d offer to help small business owners with website copy. I’d share on my Facebook personal account, my business pages, LinkedIn, X, Threads, etc., that I have availability and I can help rewrite copy on one, two, or three pages. I’d charge at least $150 a page for a 400 to 500-word edit and aim to help them with a few pages to optimize for SEO and make everything look better.
Estimated total: $450
→I’d offer to help freelancers edit their pitches. I offer this as part of my one-on-one coaching package and it’s a little-known service I can help freelance clients. I’d charge $50 for each 500-word email article pitch to review and record a LOOM video to send with my feedback. (BTW, if this is something you think you’d want, reply to this email with PITCH HELP.)
Estimated total: $150 (If three freelancers in my network of 20,000+ took advantage of this.)
→I’d offer a mini-LinkedIn content starter kit. I’d offer to do an audit of a client, freelancer, friend, or professional’s LinkedIn bio, photo, summary, About section, services, and keywords. I’d add five “post template” suggestions or prompts to help them get started and suggest five contacts/profiles they start following and commenting on. I’d share on my LinkedIn profile, with current clients, freelancers, and friends.
Estimated total: $500 for one LinkedIn profile/content starter package.
On the low end, this could net me $1,100 USD for a few services that I could help others with.
While these are my skills, I share this to help remind you that you have skills, talents, and experience that people will want to hire you for if you can help strengthen their business or brand.
I’d be willing to bet you have a friend or family member with a business or website. Offer to help them kick-start the freelance earning mojo you need.
Thank you for being here and reading!
